I noticed yesterday that my inter axle differential was left on for a 1800 mile trip on mostly dry ground. I just had the random urge to check and as luck would have it, the thing was locked. My Qualcomm device basically covers that switch and I gotta move my head under it to see it. I heard it kills your fuel economy but I ended up getting an 8.1 average with it on the whole time. Just wondering if I messed something up? You think it's worth mentioning to the company or keeping my mouth shut about it? I work for a mega carrier if that makes a difference. I heard some of the new trucks automatically shut it off after some time, but not too sure. The truck is a 2016 Cascadia.
You can absolutely BURN IT UP. If it's on dry ground the whole time or worse. Have the shop move the switch. Get your mind on your tractor. you probably pulled a little more wear and tear than necessary.
Worked for a guy hauling super B and he wanted them left in all the time,I'd turn it off and comeback to work he would have it back in and give me #### lol,never wrecked anything,but manuals n stickers in truck say only run on soft loose ground and not over certain speeds
Its not gonna do it any harm. If you were talking about a full locker that would be a diff story. Even with the power divider engaged the diff works as an open differential or semi open. Up north its not uncommon to run with it in year round
Where's "up north" ? Only use mine if can't get started on snow or ice or uneven ground....whatever the case may be.
Leaving one locked in doesn't hurt a thing. You can engage it at any speed as long as all drive wheels have good traction. When you grenade one is engaging it while one drive set is spinning.
