I was hoping to find some more information about KLLM, I originally was going to take the offer of working for CR England due to my horrible employment history, I just didn't think any other company would take me.
KLLM is offering CDL schooling burns harbor, with a starting pay of $0.60 per mile, while CR England only offered $0.46. that's a pretty huge difference. I've told CRE that I planned to take another offer and that i wouldn't be going to school for them.
Anything I should know about this company? Pretty high starting pay, so are the miles consistent? Are there any rules surrounding air conditioning/idling? Am I able to refuse home time, as I'd much rather live rent free in the truck. How does the schooling compare to others, and what are the pros/cons of trucking for KLLM? Thank you.

I’d say either KLLM or Steven’s.
@Chinatown knows more about companies though.
I’d avoid CRE and their 3 bunk trucks. -
Boondock Thanks this.

If you use search, you can find previous posts where I and others have discussed KLLM.
My employment history had gaps and KLLM took me; Prime had turned me down and Swift said it’d be a while. I’d say cdl school is probably typical for a company run one, which to say is a cdl mill. Our trainers can be hit or miss (2 misses for me) and while I did just about everything wrong, I still upgraded to solo (the upgrade process is laughable). Getting through our training should be doable for anyone, as long as you’re clean and don’t hit someone.
If KLLM BH is the nearest school, I’d look at our Midwest regional, they offer guaranteed minimum of $1825, which is probably more consistency then you’d see OTR. Our regionals seem to be the most reliable fleets for good miles. When I was OTR, I avgd about 2500mi hhg (otr now uses practical) a week, 108kmi during first full year (2020, maybe around 8 weeks of hometime).
Sleep on OTR was very inconsistent for me as well as preplans, constantly switching from days to nights and back. As for preplans, I consider it not my problem if KLLM is unable to keep them on me, but I’ve heard those that hustle with dispatch can see better consistency; I’m just laissez-faire. I took a slight pay-cut and switched to dedicated, so the otr system isn’t my problem any more; if you like that kind of system, it can probably be the most rewarding of our fleets.
No rules around idling, there used to be an automated msg but I no longer get them; my response to the msg was that they should give me more miles. You don’t have to go home if you don’t want too, but idk how otrs paid hometime works with that (checkout Midwest regional). The majority of our trucks should now have refrigerators and inverters as standard equipment (my 2020+).
Pros and cons? Idk, I’m probably a bit of an idiot... that’s a pro, right? For starters, kllm should be a good choice, there’s plenty of potential pay-wise and you’d expect the company to be more flexible if they run a school. I might just be a sucker as well since I’m afraid of changing to a worse company, been here almost 3yrs; I don’t care about money, just quality of life.
Quality of life wise, we earn 2 days of hometime for every 7 out, caps at 14 days, no carry over if you use some (restarts at 0). Max time off with trk is 7 days or told to park at yard and clean out; if you live too close to yard, must park at yard anyway (150mi, just move further away).
I can keep writing more later, but I need some sleep; anyways, use the search.
edit: pc usage is pretty liberal, can add more later.Wendell_334, Blue jeans, Vic Firth and 2 others Thank this. -
