Keep a close eye on the temps as you drive.
And drive slower than usual - baby it in there. Is the KW open on Saturday - have you called ahead?High Stepper, Bud A., InTooDeep and 2 others Thank this. -

The KW dealer isn’t going to be any cheaper. They will make their money on hourly labor and whatever other BS they can include. If you can’t do the work yourself you are at their mercy.

They don't call it a "weep" hole for nothing,,
, on coolant leaks, I always left the radiator cap loose, so as not to build up pressure, but modern vehicles don't even have radiator caps. Years ago, if you had 100K on a Cummins BC, a water pump was a regular repair. You should be okay, and get away from the TA!!!
rollin coal, Diesel Dave and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Me personally id get a couple new 5 gallon buckets, drain my coolant into them then do the pump myself. But not everyone has a small shop rideing shotgun either lol.
That said it will be fine, especially if you have a MX13. For all the crap i give the MX they are pretty well designed and if the seal fully blows that engine will near instantly shut itself off to protect itself. I think the ISX will too but im not sure.
Id just pull over every 30 mins or so and check temps and water levels. Also keep your speed low and steady to avoid stressing the rig. However, If you get a big spike in temps or see fluid on the road behind you. Find a safe place to stop ASAP. A ramp or rest area would be best but that means you just dumped all your coolant and your likely going to need a roadside or tow.
Bring at least a few gallons of coolant with you.blairandgretchen, JoeyJunk and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
This big house is a royal PITA for the comforts, but you made me remember a story.
Turned up to load, another BCO had an issue - helped him change out a lower radiator hose clamp, but due to the heat and size of the hose, lost a lot of coolant. Never met the fella.
Got it clamped up, but he's short about 5 gallons of coolant, and looks despondent on finding water.
Me says "Well, I got 40 gallons of fresh water on board to get you to where you can change out to coolant"
Him (looks stunned) - "You want me to kiss you on the mouth now or later?"
I added that to my non homophobic vocabulary to express moments of "OMG - you just saved my bacon"
