Good job OP, usually its the other way around. Someone hired for a dedicated account and then are told after orientation that they have to go OTR, the dedicated postion is no longer available.

Mmmmmmmm I don't know if your white collar job scenario world compares to the trucking world. Many white collar jobs are skill and credential specific. The trucking world is a different animal for me. I would have been inclined to try it especially since they were offering more money. OP has the ability to move around however he'd like, and perhaps he turned that down for reasons other than specific preference we will never know. I'm not even criticizinb his move per se. I'm simply of the opinion that it takes more of a deep dive to label a company as bad. I've gone to a couple of companies in the past, one for dry van OTR and another for reefer OTR, and both after a short time switched me to flatbed....maybe not my preference at the time, but I went along with it because of the money. That's me. Bait and switch can be annoying, but I don't that it makes a company a bad company.

I don't really think that's a good comparison lol......either way you would have came out with a paycheck. A car and a bike is 2 different forms of transportation. By the way, I take company promises with a grain of salt.

He has to get with the times unfortunately. Technology has permeated trucking and the days of using paper logs are very much in the rear view mirror. He never learned how HOS worked and never got with the times and it cost him. It's unfortunate but those who don't evolve, they perish.

Simple......noobs most likely aren't set in their ways coming into the industry. A driver that's entered the industry post December 2017 know one way of trucking. I could argue thy drivers who entered in 2012 know only one of way of trucking. By that point, the big companies were evolving to elogs and other forms of technology. The new drivers don't know what to expect. They never experienced the paper log era. Drivers that have been in the game, driven a lot of miles, be it legal or illegal, you won't be able to tell them a thing. They will resist any bit of change.
