When you put your trailer on your logs do you use the chassis or container number? My company says either or, trainer says use the container, other say chassis or both or whatever is on the j1 or bol.

I'm not a can hauler, but the chassis is a trl. you are pulling correct... It has a license plate, so think about that for a second..
I believe you will have your answerLGarrison Thanks this. -
my co. says put the last 4 digits of the container on the logbook. but that's my co.

The trailer of course.
It's got the wheels ,tires ,brakes , lights and so on, not the container.
Some guys could have 5-6 diffrent cans on there chassis in a day. You going to log each one . ............... -
How many trailers/chassis are you hauling a day? I might haul 15 chassis per day, where would I put those numbers at? I write my tractor number only, on my daily trip sheet it's recorded the container and chassis number. In almost 19 yrs, I've only once had DOT question my log for that during an inspection, when he did, I showed him my trip sheet, which at that point had several different chassis numbers already recorded. He just ignored that part of the log.

You put the chassis number. The container is the load. When dealing with dot and they ask what's the trailer, it's the chassis. When dealing with a customer, you tell them the container number
