milan express is a good size company it has several drivers and branches of the company. they opened a school in jackson tenneessee . they only teach students to drive the auto with a clutch trucks. So the student cant get their cdl and go to work for a different company. After the students started graduating they started pushing the older and higher paid drivers to point of quiting so they wouldnt have to pay the bonus they promised when hired on . The students had a low success rate within a few months they had several lines of of wrecked trucks at the jackson terminal . where is the benifits in that what u save on driver pay u lose in repairs . I enjoyed running the lrs division but i needed better pay so i moved to flatbed division and the problems began my pay went up but so did the problems . you were expected to run dedicated lowes out of brownsville tn.,and to the otherside of arkansa and then back and be in st loius by 7am the next morning. they expected a driver to run 900 miles in a day and not have a problem when they got pulled around at the scale house. alot of companies do the same sort of thing . but because their safety guy knew the officers at the scale house they wouldnt really check for problems . it is the drivers responsability to refuse a load that will require them to drive illegally . but alot of companies put your job on the line or not give you any runs that will allow the driver to support thier family. some states have caught on what companies like this are doing and started holding companies reliable . new drivers dont know they can say no and long timers tend to take the loads to make that extra dollar because there might come a time when they need an extra load and the dispatcher will remember that he helped him so he will help the driver .

 

Believe it or not it was what happened when I worked there it's been a few years. I quit not long after theyopened the school in Jackson. I was driving Lrs then I transfered to flatbed I was supposed to be Orr but I was put on the Brownsville dedicated route I would deliver in Rogers Arkansas then go back to Brownsville then right back out there by 7am the next morning

 

Sometimes I would go out by Rogers then by stlouis in the same day then be back by Rogers the next morning at 7am and if you weren't there by 7am they threatened to take me off the dedicated and put me back on Otr . that is the truth me and several others went through the same thing an after I quit. Most of the others I talked to and ran with quit also they rather put a driver making 29 cpm on the runs then the guy making 38cpm.

 

I worked for alot of companies good n bad Milans lrs isn't a bad group of people if the same guys r there when I was but the flatbed division was nothing but a hassle no night dispatch by the time you got ahold of someone u were already late for delivery. One of the better big companies that treated the drivers decently was Crete carrier Corp . Tlh was a smaller company in Milan tn treated me like part of the family . I have heard of Crete making some changes with their regional division but the otr is still a decent deal. 1 day home for every 7 days out they prefer at least 3 weeks out before you get home. If you can get a terminal manager like I did you will get ur home time.
