That's what I kind of figured. If your leased on with a company I know this is going to be different at each place but what is normal for what the company covers and what the driver covers. I.e. plates, fuel surg. insurance, discounts at places.. I've heard of O/o's making anywhere from 70-80% of loads

there are a lot of things that I'm unsure about and I don't want to sound like a dumb ### that's why I'm here. I'm spending time on the OOIA site looking at stuff but I understand that I'm not going to be going anywhere if I just don't grab the bull by the horns and put the things in gear. however before I put things in gear I want a clear understanding what really all goes on besides driving the rig as an O/O

I don't mind the big city. people drive stupid. drivers cuss others out for stupid things. its getting in the bad parts I don't want to deal with... not racist, just hear stories about people getting jumped, trucks stolen, things disappear off their trucks. don't have time for it and don't want to deal with it. I'm in and I'm out as fast as I can move... if I have hours or not Im out of there...

Id prefer to run west, like you stated, I've been told the rates aren't that great. Do rates pick up normally if you run to the coast? excluding CA, don't have time for that state...

Sounds kind of like you just do not have time for trucking. Perhaps you need to be more willing to do what most O/O's do. That is deliver the freight where it needs to go, when it needs to go, for whoever pays a fair rate.

Run for Menards out of Eau Claire. Don't go with a broker, call direct.

I've heard they are pretty cheap any word on that?

you can't tell me that every O/O has their "preferred" run. When I pull flat bed I like to run plate steel. Most places unless they are union are really quick and your loaded in no time. I can chain things down really quick if it needs a tarp its not that long and I'm out and rolling I go places I don't like to go, I do things I don't like to do. the only thing I wont do is ghetto. don't have time for it someone else can run it. I don't care its not for me. Just like some people don't like the cold or high heat...

Menards is a nightmare and the Mother Ship will take you a day to load.

You can get a decent rate out of them based on the miles but not based on the time loading. Upside, most of the stores are great to work with.
