I believe this applies to prospective drivers who do not have a current CDL.

BISMARCK, N.D. (NDDOT) – Drivers interested in acquiring a commercial driver’s license (CDL) will be required to complete additional federal training prior to taking the driving test beginning Feb. 7.
The key word in the article is "acquiring". If you already have a CDL, there is no acquiring of it, you already have it.

Curious as to why the news outlet chose an Australian road train as the picture for the ND news story.

My son has a B now. Of course shortly after he got that NY decided to lower the age to get an A so he is going to get that in before February just to have in the future. I thought I read somewhere though that you had to go through this money grab training to obtain hazmat endorsement if you don't already have one? I think he still has to wait until he is 21 for that.

"ELDT is required for drivers applying the first time for a Class A or Class B CDL, upgrading an existing CDL, or adding endorsements."
So basically if you have a CDL and aren't upgrading it, you're good.
