I’m a newbie - lots of the mega carriers that will hire me will let ( or require ) me to bring my truck home ( probably the tractor and trailer ).

I can’t even drive a tractor trailer on my street, never mind park one in my driveway.

There are lots of shopping malls and other places nearby with some vast parking areas- but I don’t want to be doing anything illegal. I live in a semi safe area, so I’m not super worried about leaving it in some of those places even though they’re a few miles away.

But what’s some suggestions here? I imagine I’d have to pay certain places to park for a day or two and some / most companies probably aren’t going to pay for that. So I’m going to want somewhere I can park for free.

There is a DOT public trucking rest area not too far from me as well, but again- idk if it’s legal to just park/ leave it there for 34-48 hours.

It’s liable to get towed or a junkie stealing your batteries no matter how safe the place is. Can you fit the bobtail at home? I’d get the company pay for the trailer storage and you take the tractor home.

Probably shouldn't leave a truck unattended at the rest area, but it might be fine on occasion for a day or two.

Probably just going to have cough up the 30-40 dollars every couple weeks to pay for a parking spot. 40 dollars is well worth my peace of mind knowing it's not going to be towed. Good luck getting a carrier to cover it as a newbie, but it's just part of the job unless you hire on with someone that has a nearby terminal.

Go talk to the local places - ask for the manager. Explain. Offer pizza.

    Some can be quite accommodating.

If you just need to park the truck, and not the trailer, check on self-storage places or google RV storage and your area. Some towing companies also rent parking spaces.

I never considered a company more than an hours drive away, for just this reason.

Had a shopping center agree to me parking, changed hands and I got ticketed.
    I live in the 'burbs
