Bought this new door latch and can open the truck from inside but when trying from the outside the little latch circled in the picture doesn't go down far enough to release the door.

All rods are in place and tight. Any way to adjust this thing? I've looked and doesn't appear so...

Sprayed everything with WD-40 and still not working?

    Anyone know? Thanks

Mines 1995 - but has the ICT sleeper, I ran through the same issues with the rear door - common on RV doors, but looks surprisingly similar to the newer Pete latches.

What about shortening the rod from the key mechanism to the latch?

Not sure if the key is a "Trimarck" both just have peterbilt stamped on them.

The problem with the rod is each end is looped up into a U shape so really can't just cut off a tiny bit to make it work like I would be able to if it was just a straight rod... 17028439608786066796415980560702.jpg

I would look close at the handle and pivot. You allready replaced the latch. There has to be wear somewhere causing it not to pull enough on the latch.

I'll have to look further into that, from what I've seen though, everything near the handle was nice and tight.

Finally got this mess fixed. Turns out the latch I bought/installed was defective....

And since they had the door apart I wanted a new regulator installed because window was struggling to go up anyhow...

Mechanic found that the lower window channel in door was bent in causing major drag. They repaired mounting angles, installed window channel, new regulator and felt strips...

    It definitely was not cheap...

Just happy I don't have to get in through the passenger door anymore :hello1:
