By comparison I get the actual rates, whether dispatched on a load from the company I am leased to or from a broker I negotiate the rate. That's because I fill out a waybill with the rate and that's what I am paid. Often customers will need to see that rate before they sign the waybill.

I've heard about companies paying percentage that game the system by hiding the actual rate. If you are in that boat, then abandon ship and find a better boat.

Why would you work for such rates? I do Reefer and usually average $3/mile.
There’s no reason not to show a rate con unless to hide what you’re making

Why do you have to use their fuel card? If its your truck how can they force their fuel card?

    Lepton1 and sexyredhead Thank this.

    They can't.
What they can do, is add some administrative fee to total your receipts or fuel log produced by your own card to incorporate into their ifta report, which will cover all trucks under the authority.

It is rare up here for someone to be leased to a carrier and have their own ifta account or plates.

Here we have what’s truth in leasing law fought for by ooida requiring a copy of orig rate con i f requested for in writing. A lot of Carriers will book load through brokerage and them broker it to themselves ( carrier) thereby double dipping the %. If you’re working on % I think open acess policy should be no problem unless their hiding something. As far as IFTA a common practice is to fleet ave all trucks, it’s hard to say if one benefits or is hurt by this practice. The way to know would be to figure out an ifta report on your truck only and compare amount owed against amount the company charged you.If they’re bidding on XPO I’m not surprised the rates are low!!! Lol I don’t think they will be around for long.

The fuel card depends on the wording in lease. Ooida sued a bunch of folks for skimming on discount along with flying j putting them out of business.

Ok so after an extensive meeting we settled I will stick to more local higher paying by the mile. Today I did a delivery to Sterling Heights,Mi from Windsor,On. Picked up in Romulus, Mi and brought back to our yard. Round trip 128 miles. I did it in 7 hours with dock time. So I figure about (Can $) $77 in fuel, $27 for insurance and $50 in bridge tolls...My percentage was $882 so $728 for the day. Not bad with it being easy on the truck.
