We are noticing more and more on rate cons that they have these fees if your late or if you don’t return original BOL so on and so forth. Like today for instance we finally agree on a rate so ask to send a rate con. Reading the rate con it states if your late they will charge a 400 dollar fee. And if they don’t get original BOL they charge a 250 dollar fee. So we emailed broker back saying we are no longer interested in doing this run. Are you guys seeing this? We are not going to sign a rate con like this. We are always on time but should we have a breakdown we are not going to tack on expenses, the 400 to ourselves and also have to pay for truck breaking down. These rates are #### as it is. Then to think if something unexpectedly happens we get 400 less than expected. No thank you.

It’s just odd we’ve never seen this before but now in the last couple of weeks we’ve came across this like on 4 or 5 occasions. Just wondering if you all are seeing this and how you feel about it.
77fib77 Thanks this. -
As if the prices aren’t bad enough than you want me to shoot myself in foot if something breaks down on my 2016 truck. I don’t think so. So we wait until we find loads without those stipulations.

Some shippers will charge the broker a missed appointment fee...they are just passing it on to you as it's probably part of the contract they signed with the shipper.
Midwest Trucker, Concorde and pumpkinishere Thank this. -
It's not new but yeah you see more BS like that when freight is weak. Don't be late.
Siinman, cke, Midwest Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
You always have to watch the rate cons.
I had a company one time send me a rate con and it said on there that I agree that if the receiver for any reason refuses that product, that I agree to haul that product back to the shipper for free.
And the funniest thing about the Brokers is that when I say to them hey you have that on the rate con the reply is oh that doesn't mean anything.
So my response is, great if it doesn't mean anything take it off of there!
That's okay we'll find another truck.
Yeah that's only meaningless until they have a receiver reject it and then they say Hey you agreed to that.
I have worked with good brokers, but any business that any person can handle your money before you get it is going to invite a bunch of Shady characters.
That was Magellan if anyone is wondering. -
And just to be an idiot, it's okay with me if say 50 or 100 of TTR members call on loads specifically for Magellan.
Then you guys take the load at any price and as soon as you get the rate con you tell him to go to hell.
I think that would be hysterical for a brokerage to get 50 or 100 calls a day and every one of those calls tell them to go to hell because of their rate con.
Not going to happen but it'll be pretty funny to see them banging their heads up against the wall...singlescrewshaker, Accidental Trucker, Siinman and 7 others Thank this.
