I want to become a truck driver because of the pay and just to get away from my current living situation for awhile. Both are probably not good reasons but where I am at 90% of jobs right now are truck driving flatbed otr, or local. Recruiters cant seem to answer if its okay for me to have my drivers license for less then a month and still become a trucker I have known how to drive for years and have helped others learn to I just have never had the time or the ability to go and get my drivers license till now so I am very curious if anyone knows that awnser or can point me in the right direction in finding it.

Call a few companies and ask.
    Here's a few to try:
    Earl Henderson Trucking
    Carolina Logistics
    CRST
    Lobos Interstate Services
    Carolina Cargo

Most companies want at least a year with a drivers license, but maybe some will bend the rules.

Yes good point allow me your age most definitely will play a huge part in whether you can get a CDL when i came over to drive in 2005 we got our licensing done in TX all we had to do was pass the written (computer) test then book the driving test and we got our CDL's we were all over 21 years old though and the rules do change as well but your best going in and checking with the Dept of Transport/ Licensing in your state, cause you need at least a car license first before going for a CDL.

CR England and Celadon Advertise Free Truck Driving School. you have to go through the trucking company for training. Prime inc. pays you $600 dollars a week to go through their truck driving school. JUST CALL THE TRUCKING COMPANY AND ASK ABOUT THEIR TRUCK DRIVING TRAINING PROGRAM. they greyhound bus you to a motel room and send you to a clinic on the first day for a drug screen and physical,

To answer your question ... Yes there are people out on the road who never ever drove a car driving a truck, even a few who are in their 60's

probably not as much as you would like but enough to get by right?

Thank you for all the responses ill still look into jobs and hopefully find one that will work with me with out having a license for long.

It was a joke. But atleast u understand pay is just enough to "get u by" even though a factory job pays the same and home everyday with your families and friends.

Your first year, u might not make enough, but after that should be easier
