Thinking about joining Schneider Truck Driver | Paid CDL Training Program | Chicago, IL & Northwest Indiana for Schneider. new to trucking and looking for company that will get me CDL. i understand that i have to get experience in order to make decent money. this opportunity is school 4 weeks, 17 days orientation and training with driver and then im on my own. out 11 days home 3. mostly drop and hook no touch freight. 32cpm 2,200 ---2,500 miles per week. 1 yr commitment.
what i like about Schneider is that home terminal is out of gary indiana which is 30 min from my house. unlike other company's which are out of green bay and many hours away. anyone have experience with this program, i know im not gonna get rich but what new no experience drivers does at first..

dont like- have to stay in position for 1 year. cant transfer to dedicated etc.....suggestions -
Looks like a regional gig. Didn't know schneider pays for cdl training. What you wanna know we got a bunch of Schneider drivers here
-
Schneider reimburses for some CDL Schools (http://schneiderjobs.com/company-drivers/driving-school-programs).
-
Schneider pays for private CDL school. Several drivers on this forum went through the program and a couple went to tankers.
-
Why not go tanker? I did, got my tank experience up and now with a top tanker company. I make really good money, glad I did it and very thankful to Schneider Bulk. They treated me great, no stress and pay was pretty good.Skydivedavec, Stuka and hal380 Thank this.
-
the only position avail was for dry van, drop and hook. few months ago there was a tanker available but i wasnt ready.
-
was just wonder kinda what to expect. i have to be there for 1 year which scares me at 32 cpm, when schider has better paying jobs and only need 3 months experience
-
Unless you want to pay for it up front yourself, which is what you should do if you can, then I don't see any better option than Schneider. What else can you do, CR England or CRST paying for school up front? No thanks on those two.
-
Well you can't expect the same options as the guy who pays for it himself. Their dedicated positions are sought after where as OTR, or sometimes people call this regional even though it's the same thing, are much harder to recruit for. So if you want your CDL free and clear you have to spend some time in the trenches.
