Trailer i recently bought has a kind of musty smell. I thought it was the trailer itself but after some time and washouts plus coffee spreads i think it is actually the unit. Carrier ultra xt. Cools like hell and does not have a leak. Any thoughts or suggestions??

Any dealer can clean or sell your the cleaner to eliminate the smell from the condenser.

Auto parts dealer have it as well.

it's probably got mold built yup inside the unit. buy some ammonia, get some of those paint roller dishes and pour the ammonia in them right at the return air intake. run the unit over night. Should kill any mold and mildew spores. be very careful, ammonia is highly toxic and can kill you if inhaled in quantity. so buy a respirator for this job.

if ammonia scares you, you can try household bleach.

Some customers will not load you with a strong odor fearing it will cling to their product. Clean it bro.

Ok. I was thinking it had to be something like that. Would a household cleanser diluted down work as well?

if bleach, spray the heck out of it. atleast a couple gallons. use one of those pump sprayers like the kind you can buy at home depot for spraying your yard.
if ammonia, pour it in something and place it right under the return air intake. those pans you would use with a paint roller work great for this

Be careful hauling any kind of butter or chocolate for a while after your cleaning. They are notorious for sucking up any odors.
