And maybe the answer to your questions are simply.... Don't drive reckless.

Far from perfect.... I just don't drive reckless. I just don't want to hurt others on the road by driving reckless.

I'm glad. It's a expensive mistake ($300 attorney + whatever court fees are and the ticket) to have the lawyer to knock my speed down to possibly 64 mph on the ticket that I've learned from. At this point I can't turn the clock back and unfortunately I had to learn the hard way to slow down but glad I learned before I was in a worst situation and possibly caused an accident

Shoulda told the cop the same thing "I dont need a lecture" When he made it sound like "You wait till your father gets home" When he was explaining the you might have to appear and 'I don't know, this might hurt your record'......

Sounds like both the Cop and Last time Around want to be your daddy and Spank you for speeding.

And just like that I’m quickly reminded why I quit posting here, the guy owned up to his mistake and is simply looking for advice, not a scolding. Heck of a world we live in today, full of people who have never made mistakes. To the OP, best of luck to you, everyone makes mistakes. I’m a veteran driver and got caught being in a hurry, it happens, you learn your lesson and move on. Get a lawyer, and don’t look at it as fighting your case, more like owning up to your mistake and show your willingness to pay the fine, but really try to get the violation itself reduced to non moving, no points.

I think the speeding ticket will show on your mvr after 3 years but it won't count for any points.

As most people post. Get a lawyer and try to get the ticket reduced. And be more careful.
    Good luck

I was a local police officer for 4 years and was tired of the low pay so I followed my dad's footsteps and got my CDL about 6 months ago. I've been happy so far doing mostly local but some OTR now and then. When I was an officer and people would fight traffic citations I would always reduce them to a non moving violation or reduce it to where no points were involved, that's just me though. You can always request a hearing, speak with the trooper at the hearing and explain your situation and ask if it's possible to get it reduced. If he says no then you can request a continuance on the hearing and explain to the judge that you need to consult with an attorney due to the fact that your job could be in jeopardy. Traffic hearings aren't set as "priorities" so usually it's not a huge deal

Minor losses to lawyer, fines etc is nothing compared to economic losses from being non hireable for potentially years.

Update: I hired a local attorney to go-to court on my behalf. I didn't have a whole lot of options for local attorneys with this town of Ohio being so small. The attorney said I've been doing this 21 years and have worked with the prosecutor a long time.

He's like I want to be upfront and honest with you and let you know with this prosecutor there's no way even with your clean record she will budge and move it to a non moving violation. He said he will be able to get it down to a 64 mph in a 55 mph (maybe a little more) vs my 70 mph in a 55 mph.
