Does Swift have trailers in Atlanta? Everywhere you look, truck stops, highways, manufacturers, you see Swift Trucks bobtailing or leaving a yard with no trailer.

Because I'm ###### to a regional account, I am stuck looking for trailers daily along with what appears to be a whole division doing the same. It can take up to 36-48 hrs to go across one eastern state. Delivery/drop-nohook, search entire metropolitan area using remaining hours, reset, pick up load, deliver, no empties on lot. Search yet again, reset, pick up and drop off, no empties.

I am making no money, should I just quit?

That's ridiculous. Don't know how much time you have in. Get with a small company when you can. So much nicer.

They all require 3 years. I'm stuck with the large ones, until the student loan is paid. Them, I'm out.

Don’t quit. Talk to Swift about another dedicated account. They are a mega for a reason, they have options. Especially in the south east you not be “stuck to” one dedicated account.

You’re over thinking this driver. Just tell the shipper to cut the load to what you can carry in the cab and get moving.

Then when you do find a empty trailer you will most likely have to sweep it out, get some tires replace on the sled and replace a few lights, mud flaps, ect..

If you can't find one on the yard it's going to be tough. When I was with Swift if I needed a trailer in the Atlanta area I usually had to bobtail all the way to Macon. There is a Tractor Supply DC down there that used to always have lots of Swift MT's. They got lots of inbound Swift freight but never used Swift for their outbound store deliveries (...ahem). Don't let them send you to that Walmart DC out on I-20. It never has any MT's.

And never never never accept a trip with a drop on the receiving end right before a holiday. You'll be bobtailing for a week if you do. I think that applies to most mega's, not just Swift.

Warning: when Christmas rolls around and they start offering bounties for driver who'll work the holiday you need to think real had before agreeing to it. Swift used to offer a small bonus to drivers who could do a certain number of miles between two dates just before Christmas. But no one is at the DC's unloading trailers just before Christmas. They're all off for the holiday. If you take one of those loads you'll get stuck without an MT miles from home. You won't get the bonus either since you didn't do the miles. And of course the folks at the terminal who conned you into it are all at home for the holidays and can't be reached. Basically, you get one extra load, then you sit for a few days.
I worked two holidays during the four years I was at Swift, one Thanksgiving and one Easter. I spent four days at Iowa-80 for Thanksgiving and four days at the TA in Morris Illinois for Easter. I never worked another holiday for Swift.

Because I like to think I’m the friendly, help a fella out kind of guy, I’m going to present the perfect honey holes where I know you’ll find a Swift trailer.

    1. At the Pilot backed into the nose of some poor mope’s truck.cked into the nose of some poor mope’s truck.

    2. At the Love’s backed into the nose of some poor mope’s truck.

    3. At the TA backed into the nose of some poor mope’s truck.

    4. In the center lane of any interstate serving as a rolling road block.

    5. And finally, today only, on I-30 west in Little Rock, AR, on the shoulder having a discussion with DOT about driving in the far left (no trucks allowed) lane.
