Turbo blow out, got a new turbo installed,
When done, tested drove it, noticed a rubbing sound when I would turn right,
Only when I turn right, thought it was steering pump, changed it,
Now I get that rubbing noise when I’m driving occasionally not all the time, can it be the turbo??? Mechanic says it can’t be,
Fck, I ain’t no mechanic but if the truck didn’t make that noise, and now it does, after turbo installed, it might be connected to the turbo. click the link to see video???? What the F!(k is this sound ??? : Truckers
The sound it makes while I drive

It shouldn’t be the turbo, are all the connections good and tight?
Air to air, don’t know why it would only do it when turning right, just noticed sound changed when you were accelerating. -
Yes,
It’s weird,
It sounds like that at times,
Not all the times just a few’ -
I’d check all the air to air clamps, when a turbo goes, it dumps oil into the air2air
that had to be cleaned out, maybe a pinhole or not a good seal.
we know it was cleaned because if not, the engine would’ve ran away with itself when it was first restarted -
If it happened right after the turbo was changed, could very likely be an issue with the install.
It sounds to me a lot like something rubbing. Is the exhaust pipe off the turbo rubbing the cab or frame? Any exhaust supports or clamps missing?
What about the intake pipes? Not rubbing against the firewall or anything like that. Keep in mind when you step on the throttle things tend to torque up and flex, which could make a pipe that looks like it has clearance rub against stuff. So look for shiny spots and rub marks. -
Downpipe rubbing frame is the first thing I'd look at. He's absolutely correct about shiny spots or rub marks.
Just take your time and look around. -
When the turbo exploded, did you remove the CAC and get it cleaned, along with the air filters ?
Heavyd Thanks this. -
+2 with the turbo outlet pipe rubbing the frame.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
Thank ya all,
And yes mf’er did drill a hole in exhaust to drain the oil,
Just unhooked the trailer,
Gonna investigate the air,
Just was worried the turbo might fck up,
The tow and new turbo, no walk in the park -
How old was the old turbo?
