I can imagine there's a moderator's hand perched directly above the red launch button, twitchin' nervously. I'm thinkin' folks oughta do what Nikmirbre did; start readin' from the beginnin' and see what impression(s) they come away with.
I gotta say this thread sure is an eye-opener.

No, You don't see drivers like me it appears. I stay in the right lane. If I do need to pass someone and there is traffic behind me I will speed up to get around. You are saying anyone that drives the speed limit is not safe, not professional and not courteous. You have a very dangerous view on how to drive a truck.
Title of the story is not, "Wal Mart driver while driving with the flow of traffic get in a wreck"
The fact he was going 20 over is going to weigh heavily against him. I hope for your sake something like that doesn't ever happen to you.

i feel for the driver, i dont know what happened or why, but i do know that every day, stuff can happen

we do our best to avoid these types of scenarios, but that wont change accidents from happening

yesterday,, i am driving down the middle lane, Ms Soccer mom comes on the road with a slower vehicle merging with her, in front of her

she decided that she can come into my path and drive as slow as she wanted

now, i kinda figured what she was doing as soon as she entered the road, and slowed down before she did her move

but it could have been a death situation and even though i was completely in the right, and legal, i still avoided it because i am not out here to kill folks or even impede the flow of traffic, but to get to where i need to go without incident

I agree with you fully. I'm glade you were able to avoid her. We all want to get home safe, Big trucks and 4 wheelers. That and making some money is our goal. All I've been trying to say is (as in your case here) had you hit her going 20 over it wouldn't matter in court that she pulled in front of you.
I try not to impede traffic. I know at times people have to wait their turn to get the left lane. I'm sorry about that. But by driving slow I bring home an extra $200 a week. And that's a good thing, for me and the Country.
Some comedian once said, I don't remember who, there are two types of drivers out there. The idiot driving slower than you and the manic that passed you.

    Red herring.

The fact remains, it is impossible to "go with the flow" and maintain an adequate following distance in a big rig, so its not only unprofessional, it's obviously stupid to a very significant degree.

When you feel you must resort to "appeal to ridicule" as rebuttal, please provide me the courtesy of accurate attribution:

"I possessed more knowledge about "driving" than the typical truck driver exhibits before I was 12 years old."

    Thanks!

"It puts his future in his own hands. He's led an exemplary life up until that one mistake. And, assuming it's going to go forward like that, he has his destiny in his own hands, and he won't have a record."

Grr.. This quote is so annoying. Someone who thinks it's fine to be awake 28 hours and drive a CMV does not have one mistake. He has had a series of mistakes and finally got caught, just took killing someone to get caught. Then not even serve time is just sickening.
