We sometimes relocate other LTL trailer pools. Have done YRC and ABF before.
Ashamed to say CRST has pulled our freight out of Kansas to California a few times ( on their trailers)- as radman said - we need drivers bad.
Have to laugh at CRST, their drivers are pulling it for exactly a third of what our drivers get paid and are probably just thrilled to have a 1500 mile straight shot.

More than likely, ABF does NOT like paying union scale wages or giving their employees union scale benefits, (medical and retirement).
Rather than go out and recruit more drivers, they are probably contracting out a lot of their freight delivery for a lot LESS money.
Chances are, a lot of the drivers from these contract trucking companies are hoping to eventually get onto the payroll of ABF. -
Just wait til the first snow.

I have been seeing Total Transportation of Mississippi & USX trucks pulling R & L doubles in the Southeast lately
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Not sure about ABF but I'm in a Union and its in our contract that they cant let outside carriers pull are freight to avoid paying us. There has to be a shortage of drivers, I'm pretty sure ABF is in the same union.
Hi Milkman, I agree, when I was a union driver, we had non-union outside carriers pull the longer, over night stuff. I always wondered how the union allowed that to happen. Sorry, but this sounds like the kiss of death, to me, as after I left, I believe all the union drivers were let go and it's all outside carriers now.
abf is allowed a certain percentage of purchased transportation in the contract, its been like that for a while. same with yrc. it saves them money, and none of these companies can find drivers, they are all willing to train new guys at this point, because experienced freight guys are retiring left and right.Milkman719, "semi" retired and Honch Thank this. -
all of the ltl companies are doing it now, estes, od, ups freight, conway, etc....
