Hey Yall,
My names John Speidel, I am a college student at UT(hook 'em horns) I am looking into the traits of an owner operator for a psychology class.
WHERE YOU COME IN!
If you own a class 8 truck, I would like to know your age(general), sex, state of residence, if you have tattoos/pets, what your other vehicle is beside your class 8 truck, if you have a motorcycle, and one fact about independent trucking people don't understand.
Thank you for your time!
John

Wow, that's a lot of personal stuff you want me to put on this board. You might be better of going down to the truck stop and asking a few people in person.
Edit to add: But you have my locations now. -
I will pm you my social security number. I want to make sure you have all my 411.

Well lets see I'm 40 but bought my first truck the week I turned 21.
Reside in Arkansas, got a half crazed blue heeler dog. I gave my 4x4 gmc to my daughter its what she wanted hadn't replaced it yet.
The one thing people don't understand about independent trucking has to be this 19 year love affair with an old Peterbilt. For some of us it isn't about money, or being to dumb to do anything else (they are easy to spot).
Its about pride, its in our bloodBrickwall, exhausted379, Al. Roper and 15 others Thank this. -

I would say the general public has no clue about the stupidity of regulations going on in this industry. The big fleets have lobbied and successfully passed ridiculous regulations that are driving away intelligent, safe business owners and replacing them with idiots they find off the streets (or in prisons), rush them through cdl school and equip them with a ton of driver aids and they seem to have the whole country fooled into thinking that it's all for safety and not for the sole purpose of lowering the caliber of human they can throw in a truck for as cheap as possible so they can see more profit.Brickwall, Bdog, Brettj3876 and 7 others Thank this. -
