Ok here's the scenario:
You get a load and call the broker for the load info. They give you all of your load info and you leave your house for the 90 mile deadhead to the shipper. You arrive at the shipper and they ask you for you CAT ticket showing your empty weight. You don't have one because the broker failed to inform you that you needed one. The nearest T.S with a scale is 45 miles away (read 90 mile rt.) You won't get paid for the extra miles and your clock is already running. The shipper refuses to load you with out a certified scale ticket.
What would you do?

When I had to deal with brokers, I had a little questionnaire I'd give them.
Do I need pallets? Scale ticket?
Shipper phone number?
Consignee phone number?
Address? Load time? Hours of operations?
Astro glide or regular old ky . . . . ?Dinomite, 281ric and Jokingypsy Thank this. -
You're going to either go get an mt weight or they don't load you simple as that.I would talk to the broker and ask him to pay u for the extra miles since he failed to tell you before you got to the shipper.Ask shipper if there is a closer scale.

Let's see. I can go 90 miles for free. Or be stuck over the weekend and make no money. I do know it's home for you, but bill's still got to get paid. 90 miles free or no miles over the weekend.
Wooly Rhino Thanks this. -
I just want to thank you for posting this. I am going to fill my tanks and go weigh my empty trailer now. That way, if I ever run into the same situation, I will have a weigh ticket to show. I will scan it and have copies available. I assume that should be good enough. I only fuel my truck with low fat fuel and I make it run so it is likely to gain weight over the years.

I would be a smart Ase. Here is your Cat weight. Truck weighs less than the scale weight. I burned fuel coming back here.
JPenn Thanks this.
