My go to SA answer was "that is what it cost to have a freshly bathed truck and driver show up on time, and safely deliver your product on time. You get what you pay for, call me back if I'm what you're looking for".

Why so little?

Just to have a little fun occasionally the broker would say the rate is $1500 and I would say, not bad, so with the fuel surcharge on the 600 miles at .50 / mile your at $1800, ok I will take it! Usually a little bit of silence on the other end depending if the 22 year old started at TQL that week or not.
Same goes for an area with tolls, the broker states the rate is $1500 and I would say if you cover the tolls on top of that were good to go....again a little bit of silence. Then the reply, well how much are tolls, and my response, could be a few hundred in New England.
