Folding up tarps in the rain. Or snow. Or on windy days. Putting on the tarp, in rain. Or snow. Or on winds days. Trying to lift up a wet tarp onto the desk. Ice on the tarp. Getting my jeans dirty touching the tarp. Having to stop every 20 miles because the tarp keep flapping. Repairing the tarp.

The first three months of my carrier I drove for an driver who was leased with SMX which was a flatbed company.that was enough for me to know flatbedding isn't for me.tarping in the rain wind and cold.I know there's a secret to tarping loads but never did catch on to make my job easier.

I agree with this.... This has got to be one of the worst things about flatbed... Snow wind and rain.. Crappy for everything tarp related... Soaking wet and/or frozen straps.. Wet gloves, wet clothes.. Slippery loads.. I hated flatbed in winter when it involved tarping.. Non-tarp loads in winter can be brutal as well but not as bad as tarping...

I would have to say the next thing would be long loading/unloading times depending on where you pick up.. I used to pick up at steel mills, automotive plants, shipping yards all these places are brutal almost all the time.....
