Without getting into specifics, a portion of the fleet is parked like other companies did when freight fell off. The miles are just beginning to be reasonable for those who work well in their system. Any driver that quits does not recieve any pro rated vacation or bonus. When they took drivers off salary, bonuses that were to be paid as well as vacations got screwed up for some. The trees have been shook and pruned. I'm not nearly as agitated as I was 6 months ago. If they keep a handle on fleet size, things will be good for most of us here.

Here is my experience at Barr Nunn ( 2 years ago). They flew me from Florida to Ohio and when I got there we did all the paperwprk, and I completed everything for the 3 day orientation. Everyone else got thier trucks, and I got a bus ticket. When I asked why their reply was that they did not have to tell me why they were not going ot hire me. I got no pay of any kind and had to spend $50 more to geta plane ticket back home becuase I was not going to take he bus, I had to find a job not sit on a bus for 3 days. But I got my DAC and called the only2 comanies I worked for and I was rehireable by both, and my license had only 3 point that they knew i had before I went there. They actually put on my DAC that I worked for them but had Quit or been dismissed and not rehirable. Never got paid a dime how did I work for them? Anyway hope this helps someone, or maybe someone can help me. Oh and 2 other companies have done similar to me since then.

What I do know is, I like my job (for the time being) here at Barr Nunn. I've been getting home every weekend, and earn a reasonable living. -
Ok,
So Barr Nunn is calling now and had the nerve to send me a "recent" pay settlement from one of their drivers that was dated.... get this... 5/16/2008. Nice try. Driver was making .41/mi and did 2690 miles, with about $117 in accessorial pay. Grossed $1233.71 that week. That was THEN. Course, the recruiter tells me they average 2300/week nowadays, so that means they average what, about 2000/wk in the real world?
Been reading these threads. They dont look great. Firing people for rediculous reasons, etc... I can deal with bull, but in return, I require good miles and good pay. If they cannot deliver on the pay, my butt will not be in their seat.
Any current BN drivers here? -
The nitemare is Barr Nunn. I worked for these crooks 2 yrs and got tired of the vaseline with sand in it. I ran OTR and the best year I had I made 39k. I stayed out 4 to 5 weeks at a time. $50 a week in advances is all you are allowed. Try stretching $50 a week eating in truckstops. Got cussed out cause they sent me back to a shipper to p/u a pallet the shipper forgot to load and I was late delivering the next morning. When I told them what happened they simply said 'oh'. No 'I'm sorry' or anything. I fell in the back of a trailer and per there policy I reported it. They called me back 27 hrs later and the 1st words outta their mouth was 'What knda' shoes were you wearing?' ....not 'Are you hurt?' Its a sorry company and I've been driving for 30 years. I'll drive a cab before I for them again.

Go and look what I wrote about Barr-Nunn under bad trucking companies. I wrote it yesterday, 12-17-09, they are bad, cheap, and only care about $$, they don't care a thing about Drivers.Lots more in that message I wrote, go take a look. No APU's, and don't idle......wear long underwear, have lots of blankets and sleeping bags in the winter, etc. Sleep with your clothes and coat on. They actually had this message on the Qualcomm last winter, we must save fuel and get our idling way down !! They stink and fire drivers all the time !

I worked for Schnieder 13 years ago when fuel was $1.24 and was making only 22 cents p/m. Their idle policy was 10% or no raise or bonus.
Made 55k this year, didn't have to fight to get home, work with a bunch of good people here in the northeast.
The only problems I have is getting though a shop for a pm, getting someone on the phone right away, and some of the routing they are requiring us to take to reduce tolls. -
I worker for barr-nunn over 10 years ago and they were great (only left 2 be home more). I was thinking of buying my own truck and appling their. I live near Syracuse NY. I see a ton of trucks up here and heard they have a new large account in Syracuse. Any thoughts on this?
