I am currently driving for them. Just so you know I am also leaving them. I can not really bad mouth them, it's just not working out for me.
What exactly do you want to know? Making it good at Barr-Nunn has a lot to do with where you live, how legal you want to run, how many miles you want, and what you're willing to put up with.
Let me know your concerns and I'll shoot straight with ya.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Well, my boyfriend lives in Michigan and is looking to work out of Columbus. The recruiter hes talking to is saying $1000 sign on bonus and that his drivers are making at least $500 a week.
From what he is hearing it sounds WAY better than Swift (his current employer). Is what the recruiter saying true? Or is he just jumping to another crappy company? Thanks in advance -
I don't drive for Barr-nunn, but if your boyfriend is driving OTR in the midwest then $500 a week SHOULD be a bad week. Very bad. I've got opinions about most carriers, including my own, but I've never really heard anything bad about Barr-nunn. They have those mid-roof tractors, though, not quite as much room as a condo

I average 2300 miles a week. But it has slowed a little in the past 2 weeks. But generally my checks are around $650 to $700. His pay rate would be a little higher going OTR. So $500 a week should be easy to make. The band pay is great also.Have him look on their web site about that.
So far everything the recruiter told me,has been true. I would recommend this company! -
I get home every weekend. So I get those 2300 miles in a 5 day period. Just to clear that up. Good Luck!!

I recommend listening to whydontchahey, as this person is running the area your man wants to run, and he is from that area.
As far as I go, I live in VA working for them as an OTR driver, and it just seems they can't get the load planning to work for my situation. I blame it all on the planners.
I have a very good (although she has her moments) dispatcher named Karen, and she tries.
Regardless of which fleet you run, or who you have, DO NOT let them walk all over you. And of course, if you want to run legal, you have to keep reminding them about just that. Barr-Nunn tends to be a "get it there any way you can" kind of company.
Like I said, I can't REALLY bad mouth them, (ok, maybe a little).
Hope everything works well. The freight for this company pretty much is where he wants to run, so he should probably do alright.
Good luck! any other questions, feel free.

Thanks all. Very helpful!

One more thing (possibly)...My boyfriend is wondering what speed your trucks are set at. Thanks

And Stick is right.Barr-Nunn seems to be a get it there no matter what type company. You just don't let em guilt ya into stuff ya don't wanna due. Good Luck!
