Ok, that may have been a slight overstatement.
I will be joining the dot foods "family" shortly and have nothing less than high praise for this top notch outfit.
They are very orientated towards training, with a emphisis on safety and employee retention.
I will update this thread as I progress in training.
Peace.... Drive safe

There was another thread about Dot but I don't see it anymore. I to am thinking about them as I live just N. of the Modesto terminal. Best of luck and if you don't mind keep up with the post I like positive things. -
Best of luck on your new venture.

I hate to burst your bubble or deminish your dream, but how do you know they rule or are the absolute best...IF YOU HAVE NEVER WORKED FOR THEM!!!
Just a thought, good luck.AfterShock, JOHNQPUBLIC, Kwaione and 3 others Thank this. -
Thanks to all for the kind words. It's comforting to know I have support in my new venture.
Still waiting on the D.O.T results which should not be a problem. Then I have to complete a physical ability test and I will be on my way.
Diesel Driver,
The thread title came from another forum member that was banned for reasons I am not at liberty to disclose. So the post was a statement in support of him.
I can respect your point of view though, I really don't know if dot foods is the best thing since sliced bread, but my research has found dot to be a solid company with a good track record.
From the moment I took my road test you really could feel the positive vibes from the staff, as they made every effort to make me feel part of the "team". I felt right at home from the get go.
I will continue to update as things progress. Thanks again for all the support.Last edited: Sep 3, 2008

DOT foods in my area runs non stop ads in the paper which is a good indication that they have some driver turnover. But I do wish you best of luck. Maybe they will work out for you. Besides that even the best of companies have turnover today.

i interviewed with dot a few weeks ago in there cambridge city in office and from what i read on there info sheets it all sounds good. they even put in written a min of 50.000 first yr. but after reading further half of your 50.000 is driving and the other half is for unloading and breaking down the skids and for stops plus they pay per line item and per item. they did want to hire me. but i found someting better in anderson indiana with a co i know will also get me home every weekend and all no touch freight. and i want to add some of there warehouses do have slip seating from what the women told me at the interview.

centralnyguy,
I have to disagree with your statment about "even the best companies have turnover". Unless you consider retiring, your statment is false. Turnover rate is a combination of lying, low pay, expensive benefits, failure to pay for all on duty time, no paid holiday, vacation, sick days and lack of time at home just to name a few. Care to disagree?
P.S. If the company has to advertise, they are not worth the trouble.
Drive safehup Thanks this. -
I applied with them a few weeks ago but I haven't heard anything. I've contacted them but haven't received a response. I'm thinking with six years OTR maybe they think I'll ask to many questions. I hope not but will see.

Unless you enjoy being driver, lumper and occasionally stocker all in one, be wary of food-service outfits. You will drive like mad, unload on the run, occasionally have to put away freezer/cooler product, and be paid by the case. You'll have appointment times you will be pressed to hit within 15-30 minutes. With certain companies, your income will vary greatly by season.
But I'm just a former foodservice driver who got pissed off and went flatbedding...what do I know?Cbake84 Thanks this.
