I've hauled steel for a few years and yes, I have heard of this company. If you have now experience, this probably would be a good place to stay for 6 to 12 months. If you like hauling steel after that, I'd look at Zimmerman Truck Lines in Mifflintown, pa. or Mawson and Mawson in Langhorne, Pa. as these are the better companies that haul steel.
As for PI and I , I've heard some bad stuff about them ripping off drivers ect. But if your new, just soak up that first year of experience with them and then get into a better outfit. Learn as much as you can about hauling steel as it is very important to take your time and do the job right. You don't want to hurt, kill anyone including yourself. Learn how to secure your loads properly and don't use shortcuts. Steel hauling is dangerous if you don't drive safe and secure 48,000 coils properly with more than enough chains.
I'd go for it and use them to learn the biz. However, probably not a place that you'll want to stay at very long. Good luck in the steel hauling! -
Thanx for the info. Basically am looking for a local company to start my trucking career with. I want to do flatbed work and am willing to put in the hard work. The company that i would like to work for is PRIME INC but i want get some securement experience before i go otr. I figure that this will make me aware of what am dealing with before i commit myself to longhaul. I do not mind giving them a year provided i get to learn.

I have been with the company for about 8mnths now..I'am really happy working for them and they offer alot of oppurtunities. I have the option to run local or OTR which is nice. The benifits are great the cost me nothing out of pocket. We are also in the union which is nice as well. The equipment is'nt the greatest out there but there is always the option of buying your own truck. Currently I'am driving a 2006 Freightliner Columbia with a 500 Cat 10 spd transmission. I have no problems running hills with it and I can't complain about my truck. The money is there if your willing to work for it..Running local requires alot more work cause you are running alot harder and chaining and tarping alot more but again if your willing to work the money is there. Good luck any other questions let me know

I work for them now, and I have nothing good to sya about this company at all. I tried skinning this cat numerous ways and all I end up with is sticks thrown in my spokes. My biggest pay check was $800 for two weeeks pay and I've been here almost four months. The first two months I never saw a bi-weekly check over $500, and I'm used to hustling. The main reason I went to work here is beacuse they run loose logs and have no satallites. I figured I could hustle and make some easy money. Boy was I wrong. This is the worst driving job I have had and I would not recommend this company to anyone. The equipment will leave you stuck in the shop, where you and one other person speaks english. FYI...No tarp pay, No bounce pay, No detention pay, No breakdown pay and no holiday pay, although they say they pay hoilidays but I havent got a dime through two of them. I would recommend ANY other company except this one....even TMC wasnt this bad. Good Luck!

They are a rip off. they will screw you around on pay day. stay away.
Shaggy Thanks this. -
i have nothing good to say about them i gave them 4 years and the pay really sucked and they do not pay on holidays everytime i turned around they were screwing me around so i would not suggest anyone to them for a job

Found this ad on Craigslist. 20$ an hour sounds good to me.
PI&I is looking for experienced flatbed drivers to haul steel coils, plates and pipe at the Port of Houston.
This is a local position and drivers are home every night.
TWIC card is a plus, but not mandatory to start.
Starting pay is $20 an hour.
For additional information, please call 832-377-4639. -
I was considering this company for about 10 minutes. If a specialty hauling company is having pay problems, issues getting drivers home, etc, and hires out of driving schools, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
