You won't need to worry about union stuff like high pay, paid vacation at 1.5 times your average daily pay, retirement pension 100% paid by employer, excellent healthcare with premiums paid for by employer for individual and partial paid for family members.
You'll love it! -
I'm a Steward and the treasurer of our local lodge. But, it is a union composed of federal government employees and has it's own peculiar rules that do not apply to non-government postions.
Anyway, thanks for the info on Union shops in the trucking industry. I am hoping that as some point I'll be able to get on with a Union outfit.
As to the tendency of Union employees to have disdain for non-union employees, it is a pretty simple concept. As a Union member I pay dues and spend time and energy toward improving employee pay and benefits, those struggles for better pay and wages often are contentious, difficult and hard won. Non-union employees benefit from that effort, yet have not contributed a darned thing to helping out. Why shouldn't union folks not like non-union employees, you didn't help!!KnuckleBuster Thanks this. -
Manufacturing in this country is almost non-excistant thanks to the good ole unions...Unions had their day .. That day is gone and they should
be too..
Right to work laws are fixing to put the unions out to wither on the vine ..
It pretty simple ... If you don't like working somewhere you do like the pay the hrs... Go find another job.!!!
Unions today are not the Unions of past... Unions today are nothing more than a political fund raising wing of the democrat party... -
This thread was intended for discussing whether or not specific companies are union or non-union. Discussions involving the positives and/or negatives of unions can get very heated and very ugly. So, if you'd like to debate the pro's and cons of unions - or the politics involved with unions - please take it to the Politics forum. Thanks.

YRC is kinda mixed match with union and none union. I am out of a terminal that is none union. They still treat us really well and our union counterparts only have a few extra perks. Not enough for me to consider wanting to join one. You can go LTL without prior experience. I did. Good luck!
