Hey! Don't worry about it! I'm sure you know what you are doing, and I know you have the confidence to get through the test. Remember, noone is perfect. People make small mistakes and learn from them. You might have been flustered by the fire trucks and you took the truck a little too far to the side of the road. ATLEAST those trucks where able to get around you and conduct their business. The situation could have been far worse, but you just scraping a little tire on a curb... DON'T sweat it. Continue driving, keep your head up, and drive on. You have your eyes set on this goal. Thrive for it and succeed. In 2 weeks, BLOW THEM AWAY when you re-test. Good Luck!

Thats kinda jakked. I don't know why they DQ you for that. trust me, when your out otr or even local for that matter, you drag tires over curbs all the time. you do your best to avoid it, but shippers or recievers put you in binds like that all the time. I would think giving the right of way to emergency vehicles would forgive the curbing of any tires.

here's to better luck next time around.

Hang in there man. You made it through most of it. Do they make ya do the pre-trip and backing again??

How come 2 weeks though? WA and OR are both 1 week if ya fail drivers test.

Best of luck next time. YOU CAN DO IT ! ! !

I think his pre-trip is golden, has skills portion also. Just needs to take the road portion again. Good Luck!

P.S. No sympathy... get used to it. :biggrin_25523:

Don't worry, It will not be your last curb either. The instructor must of had a bad day and took it out on you.

When I took my test, I made a turn and maybe brushed a curb. When we got back the tester said, "On that last turn you came awfully close to the curb. I don't think you actually hit it, but it made the trailer wiggle a little!"
I seem to remember that if you saw you were going to hit a curb and told the tester before-hand, it was a major point deduction, but not an automatic failure. Where as if you hit one without a warning... automatic failure. I got a major break. Mind you, my "tester" was actually one of my instructors at the school. Very few students that took the test didn't pass, but I remember one guy who had no formal training came to take the "3rd part test" only, failed miserably. No horn before backing, trouble following instructions, and I was told his pre-trip was only about half complete. Anyway, after thinking about it, I guess there might have been room for discresion in your case, but didn't get the luck. And being surrounded by fire trucks is no-doubt unnerving. :biggrin_25525:

    Thanks guys........ :biggrin_25514:

    I was just whinning...... a little ......... :biggrin_25525:

It was actually a corner curb that I hit..... I tried to get over as far as possible for the fire trucks so when I made the corner I wasn't able to avoid the curb........ :biggrin_25524:

Oh well.......... I was able to take the test again in 7 days but I needed an afternoon appointment so I had to reschedule in 2 weeks when they had something available..... I'm not in any real hurry so it's no big deal.

Thank goodness I only have to take the driving part again......... the pre-trip, backing, and parking are considered a pass....... two out of three isn't bad I guess..... after all, I am just a girl........ :biggrin_25522:

Believe it or not, it really wasn't a surprise (to me).... I told my instructors before the test that if anything bizarre was going to happen to any of us...... it would be me! :yes2557:

Hey storyteller I think I got one worse than that. Here goes:

I take my CDL test and ace everything, pti 100%, alley dock perfect in one shot with no pull ups, controlled stop and straight line back no problem, road test also perfect. I get my CDL and on to the job search.

I'm out on my very first road test and first time in a truck since getting my CDL , everything is going well and we're on our way back to the shop when a 77 yr old lady runs through a red light and plows into the tractor I'm driving . When the lady's husband picks her up at the accident scene she retrieves a pair of thick bifocals out of the glove box which she was not wearing while driving.

Believe it or not I was offered the job even after returning with their now damaged truck. I turned it down figuring it was a no win situation cause I'd be forever known as the guy who crashed the truck on his road test.:biggrin_25511:

To add insult to injury, not only did I have my first accident before I got my first job but my personal car insurance went up significantly because of it. This lady will be dead and gone and I will still be paying a higher premium every month because of her mistake and inability to distinguish between a red and green light.:biggrin_2552:
