With a smaller outfit and not getting home might be possible.

We were making that king of money pulling a refer as a company driver 14 years ago. But then we didn't have elogs either, and did run pretty hard, but home every weekend if you wanted to be.

You can "take home" over a grand a week with most hazmat/tanker companies.

Flatbed and tanks are where the money is in trucking...more in tankers. ..I just started pulling tankers about 5 months ago and its the easiest and the most money I ever made...most flatbed companies pay 40cpm to 48 cpm...tanks are 45cpm through 55cpm but u get other pay...demerge...layover...pumping off...and ect...

    flatbed is 50k to 70k
    tanker is 60k to 80k
van an reefer 40k to 50k

    PikesPeak and Chinatown Thank this.

I pull a reefer for what people on here call a Mega carrier. Can you make $1,200 before taxes? Yes.

My gross pay for the last 6 weeks:
    7/31: $1,293.50
    7/24: $1,708.50
    7/17: $1,970.00
    7/10: $1,204.00
    7/03: $1,033.50
    6/26: $635.50 (I was home 4 days this week)

Pretty much, I will make over $1,200 a week any week I am on the road for the full week. Annually I gross between $55k and $62K every year.

Lot's of guys have this tendency to look at their "good weeks" ... the weeks where the loads fell in such a way where one really good load that didn't get emptied in time to make one payroll, so it hits on the next.

Yes it can happen but 2 things need to (have to) be in place, a decent mileage pay rate, and steady miles that keep you up near your 70 for many weeks at a time. Some have the opportunity to make money unloading and count that revenue, too. No way am I going to pay my bills lumping freight, on top of driving.

Can it be done, most deffinately. It all depends on how hard you wanna run, your dispatcher and the company.Werner,CRENGLAND, CRST doubtful you'll come close to making that as an OTR driver.
