Frozzy Corp or Frozen Trucks Bad Company, Worse Trucks, Unpaid wages.

OK, I know I went with a bad company and even worse trucks, but like many others out there I needed work and did not have 1 or 2 years of experience that many companies require. I was lucky DOT never caught up to me and put me out of service because all of the trucks I was driving were barely road worthy too many issues to list. I would have easily been put OUT OF SERVICE and given a bunch of tickets. So I worked there for 3 months and found another company to work for. Now the 2 week deposit I had there is being withheld (approx $2500). Can anything be done about this or is it a lost cause? I do have copies of BOL to show my worked miles.

Can companies just withhold wages like this at will. There should be some type of protection. I understand the Illinois labor act does not cover OTR drivers because the work was not performed in the home state. Am I missing anything. This is my first experience with this type of situation but bottom line is I refuse to drive trucks that have so many DOT violations and have a bunch of points on my drivers license. Any Ideas???

 

Thanks for responding WesternEmpire as UNPAID wages can happen to anyone. No I did not give them a 2 week notice, I gave them like a 4 week notice. But they refused to repair obvious DOT violations like no trailer brakes and no air pressure alarm so I basically found another company to drive for. The 2500 was not a deposit I paid, it was 2 weeks worth of work I completed. Miles driven and BOLs turned in... My post is intended to try to find out if there are is anything that can be done by drivers in a situation where their company is withholding payment for work performed. I did return the equipment truck in good working order besides all the violations.

 

Yes I have copies of the Bills of Lading and corresponding Driver Logs. They are complete with addresses dates and signatures for all of the deliveries. Is the labor dispute the only thing I can do?

 

Thanks Grouch, for the great advise. Any idea how much that process cost. Last i checked it was like 500 bucks to file and have them served. Also any idea how long Frozzy Corp may take after a Court rules in my favor. I've heard that after a court orders them to pay, many companies still wont pay their bill. What happens then. This is one big flaw in the system. It takes way too much time to recover this. Maybe years.
