My buddy had a load to Ft. Knox in the 90's and didn't have a cell phone. Told the guy working the dock that he really needed to call his dispatcher. The guy pointed him towards an office door and told him to go straight there and not to step off the sidewalk or he would be shot on the spot. Whether or not that was true I dunno, but he waited till he left to make the call. Turned out it was a load of canned goods.
weirdest thing you have hauled?

I picked up a van (Ford Econoline) full of medical equipment at Detroit Metro Airport back in 1998 headed to a resort in northern Michigan. Standard stuff except for two Styrofoam containers (3'x3') that were being cooled with dry ice. Inside the coolers? Human hands from the mid forearm down. They were headed to a conference of hand doctors that were sharing techniques for carpel tunnel operations. Apparently they prefer to have their conferences at resorts so they can get a little golf in between meetings.

A load of rejected cheese AND a Cadillac on the same reefer, going from Buffalo ,NY to California.

Patio furniture, most of it was already assembled and shrink wrapped. I hooked up to the trailer and my load scale in the truck wouldn't register. I looked at the bills and it said total gross weight for the laid was 14000.
(not my lightest load though) -
Pulled a set of doubles from a cardboard plant in Sacramento Ca., to a testing facility in Portland Oregon. Only thing on board was a single pallet in each trailer with ten collapsed, unused, new cardboard boxes straight of the line. That's all. The testing facility wanted the boxes for performing crush tests and other forms of testing for the cardboard industry. Total weight maybe 90 pounds. Hauled old money for the Treasury Dept. to a Federal Reserve plant in San Francisco. Have hauled a lot of interesting loads over the years.
