Figured I'd start a thread about our worst day yet in trucking. The worst possible day you had driving a truck.

I"ll start off, happend thrusday and into friday.

I started working with a friend hauling cattle while my truck's down to help him get some more miles, and to help me get some cash coming in to get my truck running again. Anyway he picked me up around 11 or so and the thermostat stuck open on his truck at that time. Great well we had little to no heat. Keep in mind it was 14 above when we left my place. Get up west of O'neil, NE and the temp had dropped to single digits. It was cold but it wasn't unbearable by anymeans and that's when we found out we were loading out of mobridge, SD. great no heat, and we're going up towards the ND border. Started heading north got into colome, SD to put fuel on, and to warm up, it was -2 at that time, got a cup of coffee, and sat in the truckstop for a little while. HE drives a cabover and asked me if I wanted to get some miles before we loaded. Of course hopped in the seat went to turn out of the truckstop turned the corner started spinning, figured great we're on ice, I didn't see the supply pop.

Of fricken course broke an airline. Called a local guy and got some couplers to fix the airline, got the airline fixed and headed north. Now colome, SD to mobridge is usually about a 2-3 hour drive. We left the truckstop at 10PM. WE hit the barn in mobridge, SD at 4 AM. we literally had to stop at every truckstop that was open to warm up. for about 45 minutes. Yep it was cold. Here's the kicker what was the temp in mobridge? -16, with -25 for wind chill. I'm from Nebraska. It gets cold, but never that cold. Walk into the sale barn figure out how to load our head, call the pen hand, no answer, 10 minutes later I called again, no answer I was just getting ready to lean forward and go to bed for a little while when the pen hand walks out. Great I was hoping she was asleep and wasn't getting up. Walk outside to the truck hit the chute, and start loading. An hour later we're back in the sale barn. I was shaking like a leaf in a hurricane, drank some coffee and headed south.

Ran down to colome, SD again to put fuel on, get there, of fricken course, guess what? Their pumps are gelled up walkinside to warm up again, and eventually the pumps started working, alright good put the fuel on started rolling again. Get down to the interstate after coming through GI driver hollers at the lone cow truck east bound on 80 by york. "your left front steer is wobbling." My swapper looks out the window sure enough tires is wobbling like a son of a gun. Pulled into shaker at york bad bearing and kingpins, called the bossman to get another truck on the way, this was at about 4ish in the afternoon. Other driver shows up around 7ish just planned on swapping trailers nope we couldn't get his 5th wheel to release great now we get to do this the hard way. other driver pulls forward, I run over to my swapper help him hook up, pick the jacks up and then help him bump the other trucks trailer. Started unloading one truck onto the next right there in the lot. got everything done after about 30 minutes. other truck leaves rides show up and we headed home.

Now then as of this morning. My friend txtd me he has frost bite on his feet, I still cannot feel the tips of my fingers on my left hand, and I'm pretty sure I've never been that cold in my entire life. Gotta love winter cow trucking!!!
