On 88 you only have 1 Oasis and it's in DeKalb that services both E and W bound... On 294 as of last Sunday the Des Plaines Oasis is no longer an available option, its being torn down to make another lane on the toll toad...

I was planning on a toll oasis or a truck stop, but didn't come across any. I must of been just east of the 88 DeKalb oasis. Plans just didn't come together. Other than where I stayed, which costs a meal or 10.00, and can accumulate a tractor and trailer, there must be other places.

FYI, I was bobtailing in to Norfolk.

All the usual spots! Unless the Shipper or Con have parking I avoid going into town prior to my appointment. I always call ahead when going into Chicago and I will almost always camp out on the outside of town.

If you're coming from the north, the t/a in Wisconsin is a good place. From the south, you got Gary, IN Coming west? Well I'm 100 miles away, parked because I hate dealing with Chicago traffic. I think morris is the closest spot from the west

Edit- ah condo already said it

Well yea, but this isn't a practice in best practices. Its more of a, tell me/others secret little nooks you can safely stop if forced to. I have only two such places on this list. Both in Bedford Park.

Wal-Mart off of Cicero allowed truck parking. Burger king off of I55 and Pulaski. There's an industrial area right around there.

Well, to be honest, off 294 at Willow springs road exit. Under the bridge across from the train yard. I've seen trucks in there all the time.

No signs saying you can't. It's not really hiding under there. It's almost like a dirt lot really.

There are some private lots around, I got stuck at the jewel disco DC in northern Chicago and found a ten buck place. If I'm not in the city I'm avoiding or planning outside.
