Don't see how it's a 2 day commute to be honest. Maybe a 1/2 day round trip tops

I would just work for someone that had a yard closer to home. Do you really want to stay out for three weeks anyways?

I'm thinking it's 21/7. And it's a slipseat situation. 3 guys sharing 3 trucks that rotate Most of these scenarios are like that

I spoke briefly with a recruiter ( we will speak more at length monday), he explained that I would be part of their "mobile fleet" I believe it was called. Basically, Schneider would fly me to whatever city they need me to be, I get a truck and drive for min. of 21 days, then I'm eligible for 5 days home time, plus 2 days travel time. After home time, fly wherever and repeat. I've never heard of a program like this before, but it sounds interesting.

Yep I've talked to a couple drivers from Miami that do this. Doesn't seem feasible but what do I know. I'm just a truck driver.

I talked to a driver in Gary once that did this. He loved it. Every time he flew out of Florida he went to a different part of the country. SNI picks up the tab for the plane to and from. They pick you up at the airport and bring you to the truck. The only down fall he did mention was SNI will only pay for one checked bag. If you want to bring more stuff that is on you, so you might be limited on what you can bring for the 3 weeks or so you are out.

It is cheaper for SNI fly a driver out of Florida than for them to have the driver bobtail home, as weird as that sounds.

It's also a cheap way to deal with capacity/balance issues. I would never have thought it but apparently the Mobil Division is pretty darn profitiable

I talked to a Schneider recruiter asking about jobs from where I live (Northern MN) and the Mobile Fleet was their deal as well. As a new trucker, it would have to be a team deal for at least 6 months. You're responsible to get to/from the airport and they fly you and your gear to/from whatever terminal they need you to go to for moving loads.

Really? Who the heck wants to deal with that everytime you go home? Schneider needs to stop sucking these drivers dry allowing them to hire from optimal areas and let the drivers in outlying areas or off the beaten path work for someone else. That's true desperation right there from the company.

    herring22 Thanks this.
