They must have just changed it because they told me one year and made a big deal when I came.

Great advice! All new drivers, or anyone thinking of leasing should have to spend all day on this site getting the information they need before getting involved in leasing.

Correct, I made the switch at just short of a year. I wouldn't have been ready at 6 months and wouldn't recommend anyone try it with only 6 months of experience.

One thing I would recommend is for those wanting to get into being an ic is start by keeping track of fuel when you're a company driver so at least on that aspect you'll get a rough idea just how much fuel would cost...that's just one of the one things you can do to prepare yourself.

drive it like you are paying for the fuel too. In addition, keep a little log of places and general freight for place. gets a good idea of whats available in what area. AND places to avoid!!!

Schneider finance doesn't count intermodal for 6 month with Schneider. You have to do it with van OTR.

I hit my 1 year with Schneider in December. I've started the IC process so that I can get a dummy account to view the load board, etc and see if it would work out. Fixed costs seem really high so I want to get an idea of rates in my area. I've also been offered a dedicated, home daily account with Schneider. Decisions.

Alright I know i'm going to get flamed for this, but... Even though it's only been 7 months of driving, i'm still looking at doing this. I'm going to have to buy a truck. This is fine, I have other businesses and am not worried about getting financed. I do however want to get the most for the least. I know to look at this as a business so I'm ahead a bit there. I have been looking around and am pretty sure I'm going frightliner cascadia 2010. Any thoughts?

Ask Sadwar how his older Cascadia turned out for him that he leased.

If you're gonna get an older out of Warranty truck I hope you have a nice looking bank account for repairs.

I got a new truck with huge payments BUT that means less headaches and don't have to worry about some DEF problem costing me $15 grand to fix.

    harlycharly55 Thanks this.

I want to go before it has DPF. No way I want that issue. Also I will be buying an extended warranty if available.
