From what I understand, Swift is starting new drivers (fresh from school) at .33 cents per mile after you complete training with a mentor. Training pay is hourly, not sure of the rate for that. They have also structured their pay so that you have the ability to be at .37 cents per mile after 1 year. They pay zip code to zip code miles.

It worked out ok - stepping stones, you know.123456 Thanks this. -
Very true. Everyone has to start somewhere. Keep a clean record, & show good on time performance and one will be in high demand.

My god....I started at swift at .25cpm I'm getting old
-
I started at 25cpm and havent been with swift that long. Its funny how they are trying to come out with all these things to retrain drivers when its really simple pay and home time. More of each.

How many miles are Swift drivers getting ? From what I read new drivers didn't get more than 1700 miles because they had to prove to the company they were worthy of the miles. -
"But I showed them! I refuse to take any load east of the Mississippi."
"I had to train my dispatcher that I don't run at night."
Actual quotes from folks complaining they aren't making any money.
When I run solo this year my average miles is up to 2950. Part of this is attributed to better time management, part is due to improvement in their planning and dispatching. It's rare for me to not have at least one load stacked while I'm underway. Last year it was rare to have a stack load, almost always I made a delivery and then had to wait for a dispatch.
