So many companies have the driver facing camera, and what strikes me as odd, lets just jump on Swift for doing this. Not to many months ago I was down South in LA and was talking to a local driver there for a food company. Said that they have had them for some time, and they are Union. Many other companies already have them and everyone is just jumping on Swift. I can remember many years ago when it was Werner testing out the first Elogs, and then many other companies started them. It was just about 4 years ago when Swift went that way.

As far as I have seen it is Swift drivers jumping on Swift for doing it, not anyone else. That is what the threads in the Swift forum are about.

A local driver with a food company will not be being watched (potentially) when they are off duty, either.
Nor do they have the same rules as we do.
    That point is SO moot!

And talk about moot, the same applies to Stockings last video.
Yes, I watch every video the day it comes out. And this one is a doozy.
    His 2 main points:
    1. The cameras can't stream video in real time.
    2. Every driver that he has explained things to were now on the bandwagon to convince other drivers.

It's pretty obvious that they can't stream video in real time, but they don't need to when they can download any file at any time.
And I guess 'every' of those drivers doesn't really understand what this technology can do, if the people behind it want it to do. All it takes is a few lines of code.

So I'm just curious ... how does the outward facing camera impact us when go to customers that state that there will be no photos or filming on prem?

That link is the same thing as what we are being fed by Swift.
    It is all hype.
It's like they are all reading from a script.

Forward facing cameras are what help everyone in most cases, unless one is truly at fault.
Maybe add in mirror facing cameras to really complete the picture?

Driver facing cameras are just there to trap drivers at a personal level.

I can't wait till every Swift truck has a front and REAR facing camera. It should make my insurance and civil suit claim go much smoother when I'm suing the bull feces out of some reckless and negligent driver and carrier for messing up my beautiful day.

It won't make any current action go any smoother.

Sorry if you got whacked by a Swiftie. But I've seen 'seemingly' experienced O/O's doing the same.

I was being overly harsh, OP was making such a fuss I may have taken it too far. No carrier or driver is perfect, and we all make mistakes. No Swifty has hit me..... Well not yet anyways. I have been hit by a Schneider truck once. I was also hit by some other smaller outfit. I don't even remember the name.

I don't understand the drama. If Swift wants cameras in their trucks they have every right to install them. Don't want a Swift truck with a camera in it, well then don't work for Swift. I've seen some real winners working for these megas and welcome anything that may keep distracted driving to a minimum. Just keep rear facing cameras out of the rules regs and my truck.

It's all so ridiculous as another poster mentioned. These carriers and shippers don't want to pay top dollar. Any warm body can get a CDL these days. We now need more tech in the trucks to help the steering wheel holders along. Lol. Kinda like they now have to advertise it's an all beef hot dog. Things got out of hand there for a while in the hot dog industry.
