So company I work for has 48ft glatbeds and also 53 stepdecks-they call them 48 stepdeck.
Ive measured and bed is 48ft and step is 5ft, for the total of 53ft.
My question is why they call them 48 stepdeck? 53ft is 53ft imo
48 or 53 stepdeck

They're just nitpicking the difference between the step and the deck
-
Am I correct to call it 53' step deck?
Its 53' long no matter if step is 5' or 10' long -
5ft seems mighty short for an upper deck?
truckon, Rock 'n Roll Relocater, MJ1657 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Normally 10 or 11 feet. You'd need a 5 foot slide on yer 5th wheel just to get it far enough back to turn

Top decks are standard at 10 ft 8 in. Never heard of a 5 ft top deck. That must be weird looking.

Yup , top deck is 11 feet on most drop decks . At least on the last 6 trailers I've had.
There are some odd ball drop decks that are 10' -
-
I just checked and it is 10' not sure where other number came from.
So 10' step and 43' deck make it 53' step deck, not sure why they call them 48' step deck -
That is a 53 foot trailer than. 48"s are 38 deck, and 10 foot top
