Ok - lucky it was empty. The guys truck had broke down (typical 2010 Cascadia stuff), and was emptying out his truck next to me, waiting on a guy to bring him another.

I go in for a shower, come out and find this.

    Didn't check his 5th wheel.

Now, I talked to this guy for 45 minutes prior - well, he talked AT me. I wasn't in a hurry, for a change. Yakkity Yak Yak. Kinda guy that doesn't listen, so - I drank my coffee in the truck, while he feeled compelled to talk at me in the cold.

So - before you jump on me for being a 'You Tube a-hole', I went over and tried to help the guy. The trailer ws ####ed over, and you couldn't turn the handle - too close to the frame.

So - after trying that (for him), I said - snap in your lockers, and jerk it forward a bit so we can turn the handle. Before this, he'd tried getting his broke down truck to lift the trailer up with, and almost punched holes in the trailer nose. Wasn't gonna happen.

I had to show him where the suspension dump and axle locks were in a truck I'd never driven before.

Anyway - he manages to jerk it forward enough to clear the handle - so I go to cranking it on low - empty trailer, and then say "Hey - I'm about to get my exercise for the day - how about you do this!?"

I walk back to my truck - confident the solution was there, and then watch to see him still trying to smoke the tires. I walk back and say "Just crank the legs up!" - He says -

    THATS TOO HARD

I walked away in disgust. Guy was 20 years my senior. Compny? Zero Trnsport LLC (applied to his IQ apparently), leased to Tri-State.

Maybe this should be in the New Drivers section - not exactly an accident. And yes, I was the only guy that came across to help, asides from the portly security thing - at the Detroiter today.

    Sad but true
First thing I learnt was to listen when an old hand offers advice -they'll only offer once if you don't

What a chucklehead. This is exactly why I rarely ever bother with drivers anymore. Drivers like this are all too happy to let you do all the work to alleviate their own stupidity.

It reminded me about the problem of hiring a driver to run your equipment - he had no problems tearing up whatever he could instead of using his brain and muscle.

You were at the Detroiter thurs.? I passed by early in the a.m. and thought about stopping for coffee. If you were there around 4 in the morning, well, I'd have got my coffee and left. wouldn't dare wake a man up knocking on his door. :D
