Prime offers a lease purchase I haven't done one but I believe it works like this. $15, 000 down $780/wk at the end of the lease you own the truck there is no balloon payment. 780 x 52 = $40,560 x 4yrs = $162, 240 + $15,000 down payment = $177, 240.
Now that includes somethings that I don't think loan mountains truck has a lane departure system, an on guard system (which some fleets are beginning to require to lease on) also includes an $8,500 apu, right weigh system. Also frieghtliner offers two DD15's and prime's truck will have DD15 evolution motor since load mountain doesn't mention what motor is in the truck so I'm guessing it maybe the previous gen DD15 SC that doesn't offer as good of fuel economy. Primes truck will also include Michelin energy super singles, this alone is probably a couple grand worth of an upgrade. Primes truck is already accepted by a fleet as is the driver the truck will come ready turn the key and take a load within the hour of signing the paperwork. There is no need to have to go find a job then get that job to prove to loan mountain that you have found a job and that will accept you and the truck into the fleet, or any other hoopla to worry about.
Now loan mountains truck is $11500 down and $2650 for 60 months that's $170, 500 total around $7,000 less than prime but don't forget about all those upgrades and the $8, 500 apu. Now keep in mind if you were to go though loan mountain and get your own apu I don't think you're gonna find financing on it so you're that in cash. Me personally I'm heavily against running emissions equipment without an apu, but everyone has their own opinions.
So is loan mountains truck better? I'm trying to be objective about this, not trying to be argumentative. Maybe there are somethings that I missed, am wrong about, or didn't take into consideration. If so chime in about it.Highway_Executive, Ssand Man, darthanubis and 3 others Thank this. -
Prime around 6,500 trucks around 4, 000 of those are lease trucks. So that's 4, 000 lease operators out there.
If you're claim is true then primes section of this forum should be flooded with threads from drivers complaining about prime (real drivers not those posing as them like in this thread) there should be litteraly hundreds of threads given the size of prime company and the fact this forum has around for what ten years. But where are they?
I try to help people get there start, those who are actually serious about doing it and seek out advice from other prime drivers on this forum. I don't think those people are looking for advice from somebody such as yourself that has no experience with prime yet seems to know all about them, because its a Sunday that person (you) has no load and is board. So you can try to clutter up the forum with useless and false information but you're wasting your time. If you're going to post info for others to read then base that info on facts.Ssand Man, darthanubis, Chucktshoes and 1 other person Thank this. -
Prime can starve you out and get their truck back... And still make money....
Prime can starve you out with a lone mountain or your own truck and doesn't benifit financially ....
For the record I'm against anything but getting your own truck/financing . And that includes lone mtn. -

Why would they do that anyway my fleet manager is paid in percentage starving me would starve them.
I keep trying to tell you guys primes a decent company. Just because were a large carrier and a training carrier doesn't mean were like the rest of them but everyone makes that assumption without knowing any better.
Any new person would be hard pressed to find another carrier that will pay a new company driver what we do 43cpm and provide free training. I've heard of many training fleets paying company drivers a number that amounts around $20, 000/yr less that this. They take advantage of new drivers and get them to work for peanuts. Prime could do the same but they don't. I think that speaks for something.
As far as the lease side they pay 72% of revenue now that's 72% percent of reefer revenue. A lot of carriers want to pay 65% of dry van revenue. Here's a link that shows the national average spot rates for dry van, reefer, and flatbed. Right now spot van rates are at 1.56/ per loaded mile reefer $1.82 flatbed $1.87.
