Newly made? Every truck I've driven since 2005 could be electronically limited to speed and rpm.

True, but this goes way beyond that. Read the article, the guberment is calling for
NATIONWIDE speed limits as low as 60!!!

I did. You're talking about trucks not the Arab oil embargo double nickel.
Now let's go over the members of ATA whose company speed limits are less than 65, shall we?
    Corporate 'Murica strikes again!

That's what happens when an already inept gubbermint agency only listens to "safety advocates", ATA lobbyists, and ambulance chasers. Like I said before, there's real world safety and FMCSA's perception of safety. The sad part, with all the mindless newbs being cranked out by the mega-company CDL mills, good luck getting the driver population of this industry to wake up and speak out.

If they really want to save lives, why don't they limit the speed of cars to 60 mph? Wouldn't that save one hell of a lot more than 498 lives a year?

    Utter garbage

Certain groups have been pushing this for two decades. Not exactly news.

Here is the deal folks, the fmcsa and nhtsa are data driven agencies. Every single time a commercial vehicle gets a ticket or warning for speeding that is one more bullet in their ammo depot. These types of regulations are pushed through due to the high amount of speeding violations industry wide.

It's just like the elog mandate. If guys weren't getting popped left and right with bad paper log books that reg would have never been thought of, let alone implemented.
