Hands down, the 5th wheel in Fresno California. The parking lot is like the surface of the moon, and theres shady characters hanging around, and walking in toget a scale ticket you have to pray the building won't fall on you

Any truck stop that doesn't have air when I need it, too many by coincidence. I got a glad hand type line the other day for such emergencies that truck stops are creating for me (or happy not to help with).

About 25 years ago I took a load to Methuen MA, delivered and had no place to go so I crossed over to NH (maybe it was CT. but probably NH. ) because I was told the was a "decent" truck stop just inside the state line.
I paid for a shower and was directed to a motel room. It was kind of dark so I didn't look around much. The tub didn't drain and just kept filling up with soap scum on the surface. Then standing on the floor, I felt what I think were toe nail clippings under my feet. Thankfully I had to use my own towel.
The waitress got right pissed off when I asked for a second refill on my coffee. There was a bar on the property but I didn't check it out.
The fuel desk could only give me $20 on a comcheque because that's all they could part with.
Sitting in my truck, I saw two guys walking towards me, they split and one went on either side of me and as they got to my doors they both pulled on my door handles! Thankfully they just kept walking. Probably just messing with me.
I've never been to that part of the world again.
Does anyone remember that place? -
Whately, Mass is one place that looks like a dump but that little diner had suprisingly good food. Is that one still around? I-91 just north of the C & S grocery DC.

I am going to have to vote for the Sacramento, CA Pilot (Sacramento 49er Travel Plaza.) They charge $12 to park, a shower is another $12 (thankfully I have the Pilot Shower Power,) the restaurant has mediocre food that is grossly over priced with slow service, the only good thing to say about it is the parking is relatively clean and organized. I guess that the free WiFi is worth mentioning as well. Slow but free.
I know I will never voluntarily stay here again.Last edited: Oct 28, 2014
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
A couple of years ago when that wasn't a Pilot it was a decent place to find a spot late night and get a bite to eat... Now you can forget about it... Weighing a load there can be a pain also... Kind of Slim picking in that area though so what can one do? -
Didn't know it changed over to a Pilot, AZ and NV is as far west as I will go now..
