I am still in school and was just wondering if there are any major name truck stops that usually have free wifi. If so, which ones?

A truck stop with a McDonald's in it or next to it. Free WiFi.
-
Let's see, there's none, and then none, and then over there, there's none too. The only "free" wifi you'll come across is at McD's, some rest areas (very few) and some of the mom & pops. Shoemacher's in Lincoln, NE is one. A few Denny's restaurants have it as well. Parking next to a hotel is out because now they all have passwords. Occasionally some truck company terminals have free wifi, but very limited. A few used to offer free wifi, but of course it was abused and some people downloaded bad stuff, so there goes the free wifi.

McDonalds was mentioned, but you will most likely have to go inside at a truckstop for the most part. I have parked in a lot across the street at a standalone and used that in the wee hours,
Most that post lots have embraced solutions other then wifi for Internet on the road. Joseph pretty well covered it in the preceding post.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
For the most part the TA truck stop wifi is pretty decent.
Its $4.99 for 24 hours I believe. Haven't used it in well over a year.
My advice is grab a phone/device that has wireless hot spot capabilities, less hassle plus ya have it everywhere. -
jet-pack
I have found only a couple places where mine wont pull in decent wifi
I have Verizon btw -
The Iowa 80 'Group' TAs/Petro. with Free Wifi.
Joplin Petro
Oak Grove Petro
Iowa 80 TA
Best Bet is Verizon/Sprint/TMo/ATT Hotspot.
Alot of the Truckstop McDs don't have Free Wifi since they would be competing with the TS Pay Wifi. -
Something for FREE at a truck stop????
-
If you park close enough to the Con-Way terminal at the old 76 truckstop in Blythe, CA you can pick up their free wifi signal. -
I once paid for wifi at the Petro in New Paris, OH because Tmobile has such a bad signal there and it was out for roughly 10 hours of the 24 I purchased. Pretty much my entire break. Not cool.
