I agree with you about getting away from there. We use to have a run through there and some drivers would just stop there for drinks or coffee and keep rolling until we had a few trucks damaged there by these girls not understanding no. So the company finally made it a place that our trucks could not stop at for any reason.

Get a cheap Walmart paintball gun and some red paintballs...they step up and try something...shoot them in the face with a paintball...before they realize that it's paint and not blood...you're long gone and they have a very sore and bruised face. It's non-lethal force and a paintball gun is legal in a truck in the lower 48.
Plus it's handy to have when the idiot across from you goes to bed and leaves his high beam headlights on all night... (just kidding...that's what wire cutters are for...)(just kidding again)Chinatown Thanks this. -
that truck stop, mud pit has not changed in 10 years.

Late one night I was chatting with one standing in front of the building; she said she's tired and waiting for her cousin to pick her up and take her home. Few minutes late a police car pulls up and she said "Oh, there he is, bye, bye" She got in the car and they left.

I go to the Campbells soup place often. I try to avoid the "truck stop" but sometimes I stop in there for a coffee. Theres always a local bunch that gives me the evil eye when I walk in. Everyone looks related like in Deliverance. Never got had any lot lizards after me but then I get to Maxton around 7am. I now pretty much plan ahead and get coffee in Wadesboro beforehand. That Maxton place is creepy. I dont want to squeal like a pig.

It's creepy for sure and full of a bunch of dope dealing 24/7 just like the rest of that county. And I think they look at everyone like that if you're not from there or someone knows you.

It is pretty clear that the local law enforcement and probably parts of local government are on the take.
Ever see the movie (the original) "Walking Tall" with Joe Don Baker?. It takes place in nearby Tennessee. -
If you absolutely have to park after a Campbells load, turn left and head south back towards 74. Go underneath the overpass. Look for the Hardees on the right and park there.
