No if you have your own trailer Landstar does not require you to have a tracking device on it. But that is because you are not doing drop n hooks either. No reason to track your trailer. Now here is how they do track you. Every BCO coming on to Landstar is required to have a EOBR. No if's and's or but's. I was grandfathered in and unless DOT requires if I maintain a good logging record I will not be forced at this time to have a EOBR. As I said, I am OK with devices approved to track and log you as a driver. I am not Ok with a company using equipment tracking devices as a means to validate logs. Especially since we as drivers have no access to that device or data. These days folks, you really have to ask a lot of questions to a company before hiring or leasing on.
Glad this question is getting some good feedback and comments. Keep the wheels rolling and be safe!

Driver, stop at Home Depot buy you an extension ladder. Climb up remove that slim box with a 1/2 ratchet and wrench. You will then need to pry the double sided tape loose and climb back down. Place skybitz on ground in front of left front trailer axle. Drive away. If it seems like too much work, report to safety office and hook up elogs because that's where you are headed. They will let you accumulate enough violations to nail you to elogs. You have no legal protection against that. It's their trailer, you haul their loads, and have a contract with their safety responsibility backing. You can't argue about 5 or 6 minute violations, they have technology and you have a pencil with an eraser. It's very dirty, but with all the lawsuits these days they are protecting themselves. They could care less about a 20 year driver, your just another liability.

EOBR's are set to the minute, Paper log books are set to 15 minute increments.
