eastbound on I-74 approaching exit 132 when another vehicle began drifting into his lane. He swerved to avoid the other vehicle and ran off the south side of the interstate where the semi ran up a hill then through the guardrail. The semi then continued eastbound as it ramped the U.S. 421 interchange before striking another guardrail tearing off the fuel tanks causing the fuel to ignite.

Wow, he was completely airborne.

That was crazy.......Glad the driver and his son were okay, I seen your dash cam said Jan, 16th 2012, was that the correct date? I imagine the truck was a TOTAL LOSS, did it burn up?

I've seen a lot of crashes in my 40+ years but that one takes the cake. Hope the driver is okay

I just saw this today and was gonna post it until I saw you already had! Truly amazing how he was completely airborne and still made it out ok with minor injuries. Thank God his 7 year old son made it out OK. Terrifying but he will have one hell of a memory for life! Hopefully not a traumatic one but something to look back on and say hey check this out! I would have probably had the same reaction as the driver filming. Keep replaying it over and over, just amazing to see it take flight like that.

He should have let the car bump him or he should have slowed down

According to the Indy Star, the truck driver, Ryan T. Young, 30, and his 7-year-old son, were driving on Interstate 74 when Young suddenly had to swerve to avoid a car that had drifted into his lane. Youngs truck ran up an embankment and flew across the road.
A press release from Decatur County describes the accident, Ryan T. Young of Owenton, KY was eastbound on I-74 approaching exit 132 when another vehicle began drifting into his lane. Young told S/Tpr. Noah he swerved to avoid the other vehicle and ran off the south side of the interstate where the semi ran up a hill then through the guardrail.
The semi then continued eastbound as it ramped the U.S. 421 interchange before striking another guardrail tearing off the fuel tanks causing the fuel to ignite. Young suffered some minor facial and head injuries and his seven year old son (name not known) who was a passenger in the semi, suffered only a few scratches.
The two were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The crash is under investigation."Last edited: Aug 2, 2013

Wow! Good thing he avoided what would probably have been a minor collision at best.
