Whenever threads like this are posted, my 1st thought is, don't look, but like looking at a welder, something makes me look anyway. Like drvrtech sez, this IS a truck driver's worst nightmare, and video's like these should be part of a driver's training course, like the old driver's ed movies years ago, to show new driver's what can happen. I suppose if they did, half the wannabe's would walk out. The real heroes are the firefighters, paramedic's and cleanup people, that deal with this on a daily basis. So sad.
Mr Ed, tinytim, Giggles the Original and 1 other person Thank this. -
On a side bar story....Doctors at a local hospital are still amazed at how tight a truck drivers butt cheeks can grip a seat cushion...it only took 10 shots of high strength muscle relaxer to get the Orielly's drivers butt to unclinch...news at 11
I was only a witness to a fatality crash 15 or so years ago, and to this day can still see it happen, and can still see the deceased's face...I hope to God I never have to go through what that Werner is going through...regardless of fault, a fatality crash is something one never forgets."semi" retired and tinytim Thank this. -

This could happen to any one of us, anyone at all, really, at any time. That's why we have to focus, that's why we don't practice distracting behaviors in our trucks. Like texting, the worst example. But eating, talking, CB conversations, radio or CD changing, we do so many things that are distractions because we live in our trucks. We have to be careful and focused all the time, as much as we can. That following truck did good work not making a bad situation worse, a focused moment for sure. Besides this example, there are so many things that can, and do, happen to big rigs. I feel sorry for the people in the car, and for their loved ones' loss. For me it would help to know how and/or why they got across that median into the Werner rig.

I wonder why it was important to note in the heading that this was a werner truck? the car was at fault. perhaps to garner a bit more attention? something the newspapers usually do?
Giggles the Original and Lepton1 Thank this. -
