Unfortunately, I have to traverse this area quite frequently, always OS/OW, as we have a yard near there. I absolutely HATE driving in JAX. period! There is a special kind of stupid in the water there or something! The only time I feel even remotely at ease hauling there in on Saturdays before the noon OS/OW curfew, as most of the goons are just waking up by then. Any chance I get to beg out of a run there I do.

BTW- I was born and raised in S. FL. and cut my comm'l. driving teeth on the streets of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, so I'm no stranger to city driving by a long shot.

Like I said, special kind of stupid.........:biggrin_25513:

Jacksonville and Miami are both quite bad in my opinion. I don't envy you since that's where you drive.

Sad tragic loss. No reason for it to happen.

Even more 'amazing' is the comments on the news link, one idiot saying "There are too many semis on our roads. They need specific times to travel, and specific lanes".

This would be the type of 4-wheeler driver that probably thinks nothing of doing 75 in a 55 mph zone, while texting, and looking sideways repeatedly to admire the view of the river, all while cutting in & out of traffic with no room to spare.

The entire load in my back end shifted today because of the kind of person you've just described. Cut out from behind me, passed on my right, merged back in and then stopped at the light.

...I hate the smell of smoking brakes and I'm glad I have self restraint. The offending 4-wheeler shot me a bird after I stopped.

Anyways. I will keep posted about this one, it seems almost too cut and dry for who is at fault.

Let us not forget the FL driver for Crete that killed those 7 kids years ago. (I live 15 minutes from the crash sight and was working for them at the time)...it's not just Jax or little Cuba that sucks for driving. When I am home, I try to venture out as little as possible, then only for the essentials and straight back home. I hate having to run to Gainesville because it's a small city with big city traffic. Don't get me wrong, I love FL. FL is a great place to live...but a lousy place to travel in.

Just my friggen luck! I had to haul a load right thru that spot this morning grossing 156,000.....About 15 minutes after the local news/talk station reported that DOT had just finished inspecting it and declared the accident site to be safe....It'd be just my luck......Nah. Nevermind! Not even gonna say it (jinx could be my middle name sometimes....LOL)
